Please try slipstreaming your XP Setup disc with SP3 and try the setup again before attempting anything below as SP3 setup seems to work fine for most people.

There is 3 part of the guide: I would recommend that if possible use a CD-RW for your work unless of course you don't mind throwing a CD in case something mess up! As to simplify most of the errors that i get through PM, I recommend you to use the vanilla version of Windows XP aka clean setup itself without slipstreams.

Avoid any "D3vil SP3 Edition" or such. This is due to the fact that some of these CD might have already been slipstreamed with drivers before and the tools listed here might not recognise the previous slipstreamer and mess up the CD. There is an increasing amount of thread on the matter and wish that i could be of some help and solve it easy way. I dare not put this in the Guide section so hopefully if its not appropriate here too, Mods please delete the thread or move it elsewhere.

But because of how old XP is to date and with the emerging of new technologies, the original drivers that came with the XP Setup itself is almost obsolete. First of all, copy the contents of your CD to a working path, in this case i'll use C: Browse the folder which you copied from the CD earlier and in this case it would be my C: If the setting is grey out like the image below: Leave intact as is i. I don't mind looking for drivers for those people in need, but some manufacturers like Compaq is giving me a hard time. They have laptops with the same model number while having different specification from each other which makes it hard for me to find. So i insist that please try to list out your hardware specification as detail as you can for me to help you faster and easier. I have updated some of the laptops with its chipset model!

There are some laptops which their manufacturer haven't put up the corresponding drivers therefore i would link to a generic driver which should work the same. I am just providing these details as per my knowledge to computers and would not hold responsible if any damage is done which in this case should not be possible to your computer. Acer Aspire [iGM] - ftp: If you're not sure, please ask first Post or PM me the laptop model here and i'll find for you and do the updating here.

Select the DriverPacks list that will appear after loading the working directory and put a check mark on DriverPack MassStorage.

Put a tick in the box which says "DriverPack MassStorage text mode". Leave all the other settings as it is if you don't know what is it for. The process should finish in around 10 minutes. Jul 1 , I should thank you too: Glad you fixed it. Thanks mod for pinning this too: It should work on every platform provided that the drivers are in DriverPack. No problem dude, just glad that you find it useful I don't really get your question so if possible please enlighten me more If you are saying that you are going to format the computer or doing any re-installation with the XP CD that don't have SATA drivers on it, then yes, you need driverpack thing unless you do the F6 insert floppy disc part as stated on my guide.

This was a triumph. Then you can just plug it in and XP should detect it and you can install the driver from there. Please check if your SCSI card is in there if you know which one is it

My problem is that after turning on the power for the very first time, it will not recognize my keyboard. I have several different keyboards and I tried them all- including the Acer keyboard that came with the PC. It took me a while to figure out that it defaulted to the HDMI connection. I started out by looking at my monitor and couldn't figure out why there was no activity on the monitor. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to recognize any keyboard now although it does make a "clicking" sound when I press keys on the keyboard. When I hit the "power off" button, it has no effect. Should I pull out the power cord from the outlet? Or is there some other way to get it to reboot?
