Download Dell Inspiron Touchpad Driver Install Update

The Windows 10 update killed my Inspiron 11 touchpad driver. It looks like Windows doesn't detect the touchpad. The latest version of Dell's touchpad driver said Synaptics driver is not needed, and the previous versions claimed to have installed the driver but it's not there. Unfortunately the Dell Community is useless. It looks like the Lenovo folks are experiencing the same issue.

Anyone else getting the same thing? There could be a setting in BIOS to completely disable it, but the touchpad is still active. A similar thing with the touchpad happened when came out where it affected the behavior on restart. This is definitely a Windows thing. Up vote 0 RE Red. Every Microsoft Win10 version upgrade has caused me grief using one of my laptops that was working fine before the upgrade! Why Microsoft do you not test your software better! I will try rolling back to the prior version, because this is extremely frustrating.

I will also share my frustration with all my clients and advise them to expect bugs in Microsoft upgrades. Yeah I know, DuaneTheTub. A similar probably different cause touchpad problem showed up when rolled out. I have created a Microsoft feedback on this issue. If you and your clients can upvote on that, it would help. Also, if you're willing, go open a tech support ticket with Dell, even if your laptop is older than 1 year and no longer under support.

Understand that the Dell Support is usually clueless on these issues, but when they get enough of these, they just might see that there is indeed an issue. I have an Inspiron 13 that I compared my Inspiron 11 to and noticed that they used the Microsoft touch pad selections in settings, and not the Dell software. It seems like Dell and Microsoft need to work closer on the forced Microsoft version upgrades.

Every MS upgrade has created problems for me with either bios or device drivers not being ready when they push out their poorly written code. If Microsoft hopes to move businesses to Win10, then they are going to have to make their upgrades less painful!

Without those, it's like the system doesn't have the touchpad thus the failure to install the software. The thing about the recovering back to the previous version is that there isn't really a good way to put a hold on getting the update again, so unless you stop the WU service, you'll be getting it again.

The problem with the feedback is that there isn't really enough of those to push this up, and with Dell, unless you're still in the 1-yr warranty, they want you to pay for the support, even though this is something they should be covered since the model is claimed to be supported with Windows And I've tried 10 different drivers and a dozen other weird things with no success.

One odd thing, I have 2 of these Inspiron 's on Win 10 , the touchpad on the Celeron 2GB 32gb works fine, the 4GB Pentium is the one that doesn't work like you described, really irritating. Recovered back to , and touchpad functioned again, so it's not a BIOS or hardware issue.
